First off I have nothing to do with the company or retailers of these rugs!

I needed a couple of heavy weight combo turnout rugs, I was fed up of layering & at this time of the year there are few bargains around. I saw 'Axiom' rugs on Ebay & did some research with said they were good. I bid for & won a 6'03" & a 6'06" 380gm Combi turnout in a green & blue tartan, with combined postage the pair cost around £97 which I think you'll agree is cheap! :)

I've been using them for a couple of weeks now & must say they look smart & the fit is great, they are quite deep in the body, plenty of chest, the neck is a good size, the tail flap huge & clips & straps a god quality. In short I have been very impressed with them & the horses are kept very warm. For the money spent I think they're exceptional value! A Wetherbeeta freestyle would cost around £115 for one.

I thought this post/review may help people decide wether to go for 'Axiom' or not because at these cheap prices you automatically feel they'd be poor quality but I assure you they're not! :)

I have a HW I got about 3 years ago and its still in fabby condition. Keeps my boy nice and warm. Althought it hasn't had much use, I would deff reccomend.

I have had one of these rugs too, it was a heavy weight turnout with full neck and agree it was a good fit, and it was toasty warm.

Only negative is that it was destroyed quite easily when bitten or pulled by other horses in the field, it did last me a winter however.

I have 3 and while I was initially impressed with them now the horses have worn them for a month or 2 they are ripped, one inside and a big rip on the outside of another (horses go out in electric fence paddocks so nothing apart from the horses to rip them) I won't be purchasing them again. Better to spend more and have something that lasts longer IMO.

We have bought one for my daughters skinny tb who sheds rugs when you layer and he seems toasty warm and very smart in his pink checks :)

I had a lightweight and was very impressed with it..... would have still been impressed with it if some git of a horse hadn't ripped the bottom out on it.

I bought 2 - a 180gm with full neck and 300gm with full neck.

I love them - really nice fit and pony seems to like them too.

I have found that because of the material of the 180gm that it does have a few snags on it but then if pony wouldn't insist on leaning over fences that wouldn't be an issue.

I'd definately buy again - i was less than £100 for the 2 of them.

I have two of these and find them FAB, they are lightweight, warm and waterproof, despite all the torrential rain, my boy is fully clipped and lives out in his 24/7. he even got a little too warm a few weeks ago in just the med weight as I had a liner rug underneath and had to take it off !!! great rugs at good prices, if they last me for two or three seasons I will be happy-although i suspect they will last longer!

Echo the original post!.,...i too bought an 'all in one' off Ebay early last year, of the green and blue tartan variety. I thought 'hello,..i'll have me one of thoses for when the winter sets in and the temps goes into the minus figures'..

Glad i bought it as it's a lovely rug, good fit, doesn't seem to move much (and considering my boy loves to roll, that's a great thing!),..it's nice and deep, very generous tail flap and good quality fixtures and fittings on it too.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and it is indeed coming in handy when it's very cold. I do swap down to lighter rugs when the weather changes, but this rug is on him just now as it's very nippy out at the mo!

So, Yes,...a big thumbs up from me too!

I bought mine 4 years ago when they were still buy it now for 21 quid!! Best buy ever- its outlived my horse :( and is now on the youngster, and still going strong

I bought one and it's just doing it's 4th winter, it's a camoflage design, without a neck as I didn't want my boy's mane rubbed out. I've noticed this winter it's not quite as warm as last year but I bought a 2nd one to keep as a spare and haven't started using it yet. A 1680D for under £50, nice and long too.

I have the 300g combo. I really like it. Fits well, waterproof and keeps her snug. It has got a few snags though. But it is a year old. Here it is (5'9 on my 14.2)

I bought one for my youngster as all the other rugs don't fit her well and rub her chest and mane out.
I bought the 300g combo turnout with 1200 dernier so its harder for her to rip.

I am mega mega pleased with it! Its a absolute perfect fit on her as all the other rugs didn't fit her chest well. Plus the neck is really long and roomy and goes right up to her ears and doesn't strangle her when she puts her head down to graze like other rugs. She wears it in the field and in the stable and its fab and she is all nice and cosy in it!

Cost me £44 including postage which i think is a bargain!

Does anyone know if they do lightweight combo turnouts in the spring?

I have one I bought as an emergency rug 4 years ago - it's in regular use, still going strong and was, IMO, fab value for money. I will be buying another!

I have two, the girly pink 180g 1800D turnout and the 300g 1200D tartan turnout for my Friesian. They're both combos and his mane/ chest have never been rubbed by the neck cover. Haven't taken the 300g out of it's bag yet (I was preparing for a colder winter), but I'm in love with the 180g rug... Apart from the colour!

Would recommend Axiom rugs in a heartbeat, however for the sake of them staying under the radar and therefore within my price range, please note that Weatherbeeta, Masta and Horseware rugs are sooooooooooo much better ;)
