axiom

Got a 180 combo last winter.
Excellent and has had several months use but have just moved her to a 300g. Will be going back down to the axiom when the weather improves.

Just bought on and should have arrives this morning, fingers cross. Will let you know!

And to be frankly honest, for the price you pay (unless the bidding gets pushed right up) then it's not the end of the world if it's not great.

Bear in mind the postage for them (assuming you get them through that seller) is really high and bumps up the price quickly.

I have a few of these, the higher the denier the better they are. The 600 ones did leak in plaes but the two 1200 denier full neck ones i got are the best rugs i've got, mine wear them all winter for daily turnout.

I have two, a no fill turn out and a 300g fill turn out and two others on the yard has some and would recomend them. The no fill did leak a bit when it was worn in heavy rain but i think no fill rugs are more for light rain/showers, Has not happened with the 300g fill rug.

previous groom had a full neck HW stable and turnout for her mare-both were fab, although mare kept herself to herself and didnt tend to hoon round/play fight so it got minimal wear and tear. the stable rug was a gorgeous pinkey burgundy colour and if it had been star's size i would have bought it off her when she sold the mare!!!!

i dont think id risk them for rug thugs but for anything else, go for it!

All mine have them (except the old boy cos they dont do his size!) They fit them all well, especially in the neck area, have never rubbed and wear well. They are a great design (T/O's) I wish more rugs had the storm bum flap and generous neck! I have got the heavyweight turnouts and after 4 seasons of total abuse the pony rugs are only just thinking about leaking in patches.

If you can get them for around £30 inc postage then even if they only last a few seasons its not too much of a shock to the pocket.

I've thought about buying one of the v high denier HW weight ones so googled them and came across a forum in Australia where Axiom rugs seem to be highly rated...and if my AU$ to £ conversion were right... much more expensive than they are on ebay... I suppose there could be two rug companies called the same thing, but bit of a coincidence... Only negative I recalled was that the fittings, eg clips and buckles not high quality
I am guessing they are made in China or SE Asis and exported by the same name around the world...

Yep they are made in China. Not managed to find them anywhere else over here except on Ebay though.

The design and fit of them is so nice for my lot that I thought of buying some as top rugs for indoors. I wasn't so keen on the design of the stable rugs - lack of shoulder pleats and not so generous bum flap.

I know you got freisan in your name...but is that you "your lot" are? I need something for a cob, but not a huge necked or broad chested one, just a little more than average!

lol. I have a range of monsters. 2 Dartmoors - 1 of old shape (with arab) 1 of old shape (tough, broad chested, table top bum) 1 Welsh x Arab - average build but broad shoulders. 1 Friesian (no really? LOL

;D ) He's rising 4, old style so getting to be big all over. It seems to fit them all really well with no rubs etc. The neck of the actual rug sits nicely ON the shoulders, just where you would "ideally" like the neck to sit. The "hoodies" are generous enough that when they are grazing the neck is still covered. They are nice and deep - even for the deep chested Friesian and the bum flap is so nice and deep that even in the worst winds it keeps the bum warm.

Thats great thanks - useful info when you can't see them in a shop.

My worry now..and probably of the OP, is that everyone will be dashing to ebay to bid on these rugs.....

(tootles off to ebay nonchantely.....)

I bought one off someone on the yard in the autumn (she sold me two 6'6 rugs that belonged to their old horse and are miles to big for new one - two for £15

) and one of them is an Axion. Very pleased with it actually, yes the clips/buckles a bit on the 'cheap' side but fit is good. Its currently on the big (16.2hh) youngster as his MW - he has a second hand Mark Todd as his HW, its a bit big for him but hasn't rubbed or anything.

Mine arrived!

I bought the very high denier (1800denier) HW combo.

Buckle and fittings are a bit cheap and nasty feeling but the rug material itself feels good quaility, tough and waterproof.

They seem to come up quite small - toby's 6'3 Weatherbeeta is a little large for him but the new 6'3 axion is a smidgen too small (just need to let the chest strap out a little)

The depth of the rug is great (no miniskirt you generally get with cheap rugs!) but the top chest strap is a little too high and digs in when he puts his head down. He's not particulaly deep chested either, so it would prob suit more TB types. It'll be easy to move down with a sewing machine though. Necks a good fit and length though.

One of his field mates is a serious rug ripper so I'll see how it stand up to him!
