I'm hoping to start this thread to encourage feedback regarding brands out there for silicone grip breeches. That way lots of information/feedback might be found in one location :)

Here are my four experiences:

Aztec Diamond: nice if you want something like that feels like casual leggings, these are fine. However, one pair I've had to do about three repairs since getting them. First the sewn-on pockets started coming off the first ride (no the breeches were not too small for me), and second the stitching in the knees came undone once I got brave enough to ride in them again (after repairing the pockets). The material snags easily and isn't very dirt or muck repellent like some other brands. Otherwise they're stretchy and fit like a glove (albeit a glove that rips when you flex).

Struck: Incredible grip, I feel really secure in these breeches. They're generally very well made, strong material (not ideal for warm days though, too heavy). However, the stitching near the calf/ankle came apart the very first time I put them on. I'm usually careful with the calf area of breeches because I'm worried that it might rip, so I wasn't rough. What I can say is that these breeches would be spectacular if they fixed up the material and stitching around the leg.

Animo: My hands-down favourite. The stitching around the calf is stretchy, supple, and I'm hardly worried about ripping the stitching for once. The rest of the breeches have been flawless, and I use them the most. The silicone is incredible and I feel so secure. More secure than in the Struck breeches, but the Struck breeches do have a different kind of grip that's just as pleasant.

For Horse: My hands-down favourite show breeches. They're light AND dirt-grime repellent. The silicone is subtle and not as grippy as Animo or Struck, but it's there, and the lightness of the material makes up for it. I have a denim version of these very flattering breeches too and wear them in to the office because they're so nice.

I'm interested in trying Horze and Montar over time. Until then, other opinions are very welcome!

I'm still searching for a brand of breeches that actually fit me consistently. I've got the odd pair which miraculously fit, but if I try another pair from the same brand I usually find a problem. I've a tiny waist but wide-ish hips with a big bum and thighs. If I get something to fit my butt, I get the gape at the back and they slip down. If I get something to fit my waist, I won't get them up over my thighs :D I usually take a size 14.

I took a chance and bought a couple of pairs of Oliver Townend full seat breeches as they were on sale at a show. They actually fit quite well. They are high waisted so I get a bit of a gape but they fit nicely everywhere else; they would be perfect if they were mid-rise. Both pairs are starting to wear out and are getting on a bit, I'm concerned I won't find a decent replacement!

My favourite pair of breeches are, believe it or not, Requisite from Robinsons. They are so comfy, fit me really well and look really smart (when new). Sadly, they started to wear out quite quickly and were looking a bit tatty after a couple of months, but then they were only £20. Another downside is they only come in navy (with some red detailing). I'd love them in other colours (black!).

Have just bought a pair of Premier Equine Regina breeches in the sale. Ordered a size 14/30. Couldn't get them up past my hips/bum without feeling totally restricted and like the stitching would pop. I am going to exchange for the next size up and see how they are.

And so the search continues... :)

I bought some silicone leggings from Arion Equestrain in April. They were around £18 but usually have an offer of a discount code knocking around. They are brilliant and I've ridden in the all through spring and summer. They've got two zipped pockets and silicone knee patch, with a microfibre lining to wick away everything. They're great, I've got two pairs and never thought I would wear such flimsy looking things.
The only criticism I have is that I ordered two pairs within the space of a month or so. Both are the same size yet the original pair is much roomier than the second, as well as a lot nicer fitting around the knees and calf. The second pair were a little tighter and the knees were a funny shape, but overall I love them :)

I wasn't sure how I would like the silicone grip breeches but was persuaded to buy a pair of BR breeches (think they are a Dutch brand) which just had silicone knee grips as they were on sale at Badminton a couple of years ago. I really like them, especially as they have stretchy material around the lower calf rather than closing with velcro which I hate as it always seems to end up sticking into my leg. I have been really pleased with them and they have worn very well - just wish I could find another pair.

On the strength of the BR breeches I then bought a full seat pair of Harry's Horse (can't remember where I got them from). They are a little less generous in the size (I take a 10) but no issues with them except for one little bit of bling has come off the pocket. They also have the stretchy material around the lower calf.

Both pairs have had a lot of use and been washed frequently.

I am now riding in a very recently purchased pair of Dublin warm-it gel winter riding tights. Very comfortable and sticky - tip don't sit on a leather sofa in them!. Only slight downside is that they don't have any pockets.

Bought a pair of Aztec Diamond breeches a while ago, not impressed at all in fact I wasn't really impressed with the quality of any of their products. They seemed thin material and the sticky patches not sticky at all. Personally I think they are over priced for what they are.

Can recommend the just togs crystal breeches, only crystals on the back pockets so not too much bling and I'd prefer with none but they fit well, have a high waistband and the sticky knees are very grippy. The material is a good thickness unlike the Aztec Diamond.

For what? When? Where? Details?????

Not the original poster but I've had Pikeur, Cavallo, and Dainese breeches from Tk Maxx in the past! They also do cheap sports leggings if you're not bothered about grippy patches.

My favourite silicone breeches are a pair of Eurostars as they just seem to fit my shape. Unfortunately I'm not willing to spend £200+ on a pair of jods regularly so I'll just stick with the one pair for now :p.

All of these replies are great, a lot of information in one place. I really appreciate this "Just Togs" recommendation, I think I'll try those next :D

I love arion. I have a pair of their silicone grip breeches

I quite like the idea of riding tights, but after the trauma of witnessing one of my liveries bend over to pick a foot up, and showing EVERYTHING as the material stretched, I'm not quite sure I'm brave enough to buy some!

Which section do you find those in?? I've never seen anything horse-related in there - maybe it just doesn't make it this far north of course.

That's a pretty funny thing to witness, and lesson learned! As much as I don't love the Aztec Diamond breeches, I've been riding in the leggings regularly for over a year and they still look brand new. They're in dark colors and the material is pretty fine-woven, so as far as I can tell they're not see through, lol.
