Had a bit of bad luck lately (I know many people are worse off but please indulge me): my grade a did a ligament and had to have a year off, back into work and has just been diagnosed as a roarer;

Bought a horse that I think must have been drugged when we tried him but turned out to be a looney, turning himself inside out when ridden. Tried everything, back, teeth, etc. eventually he went to the blood bank so as not to be passed on as someone else's problem.

Next, my little nephew's pony (a mini Shetland x) broke a leg and had to be destroyed.

Bought a beautiful 5 yo in May; fabulous temperament, excellent blood lines - bred to jump. Had five stage vetting and all was fine. I've brought him on slowly with gradual fittening
work. Ah, a hot fetlock - then swelling up the back of the leg which came and went. Then hot other fetlock... Then x-rays... Sesamoid bones not looking good.

So, teldrin drip on Monday, but he aint't never going to jump bless him. Fortunately he is the sweetest horse and bombproof in traffic, so he's going to make someone a lovely posh hack - if I can bear to part with him! Trouble is, my yard is now filled with the old, halt and the lame, and I'd quit like to compete!

Ok, it's my round, g and t anyone?
 
Thanks for the g and t I feel your pain having four horses one rideable, two ornaments and one mentallist! I have no words of wisdom maybe fifth time lucky? Or enjoy posh hacking!
 
Can I have a pina colada rather than a g and t? I would like to leave your group..I have 3 unrideables and no rideables. Lost one with a broken leg last year, bought young replacement who is still 2-3 years off carrying me, he has got an unrideable 12hh companion, and my big mare is debating whether I should get her kissing spines sorted or not. I can honestly say, before this run of poor luck I have not noticed one of my previous horses ever being lame. Must be my turn, but now it can stop, please!
 
Group hugs folks! Shall we all take up crocheting instead? Considerably cheaper and no heartbreak!

Oh, and pino colada's fine, and there' an enormous jug of Pimm's available!
 
Oh heck! You really are having some pants times. You actually make me feel better! My mare got caught in some (plain luckily) wire last month, resulting in a month off and a load of penicillin and bute as it went to cellulitis. This month, when I was just getting smug about how well it had healed, she comes in this morning with a big puncture wound to her inner thigh. No idea how, we have scoured the field. So she is back on the penicillin and bute. Hubby thinks she is a junkie! I know they're not serious issues, but both have happened at the start of my ten days off block. Luckily my stepson has gone off to Africa for three weeks with school, so I can pinch his horse for a bit. Just hope I don't break it before he gets home.:devilish:
