So, I've just re- backed my baby coblet (5, rising 6!), and he's currently doing well for only being sat on 3 times in the past year.
He has done lots and lots of long reining, where the concepts of bend and straightness were introduced as well.
We're doing little bits of sideways-leg yield (very shallowly!) and turn on the forehand in walk/halt.
Leg yield was introduced mostly by accident! In his stable as I was mucking him out, I'd push him sideways and say 'over!' and now whenever I say he moves sideways bless him- although we are now asking for it without the unintentional voice aid!
He struggles in trot to maintain his balance around corners, although the actual transition is fairly good, we have a very unhelpful size/shaped school.
He can also be rather bendy to the right, instead staying straight to the outside rein like he is to the left- which is why we're doing leg yield and avoiding shoulder fore/in (as I have a tendency to hold too much to the inside...).
Any useful exercises/patterns anyone has?
