So Jay went to his first pony club rally today. It was for 2 hours which i was worried would be too long for him. So he practically leapt onto the trailer and he travelled really well. The car park was getting full but i found a nice space and unloaded him, i held him while daughter tacked him up. He stood really well despite there being trailers and lorries moving around, not to mention numerous ponies and kids.
We went to the rally field where she was being taught by our usual instructor, who we have at home too. There were 8 in his group and he worked well with them, but didn't like it when another pony came towards him and then changed direction, this caused a big spook the first time and daughter came off but thankfully landed on her feet! After that he was starting to get used to it.
Then they did a few poles before doing some very small jumps of about 50cm. by this time about 1hr had passed and he was tiring. Also they were putting the jumps higher for the other ponies. So daughter took him for a cooling walk around the whole field and we took him back to the car park, which was nice and quiet. gave him a small drink and loaded him onto the trailer and home.
We were so pleased with him, some mums said they would not have thought he was only almost 4 as he was so calm.
So that was by far the longest stretch he has ever been ridden, and it wasn't too hard work because of being several in the group, it wasn't all concentrated on him.
So daughterr and I are really pleased with him.
she's now gone out for her last hack on Manni as he is going back to his owner on saturday. We have had him for over 3 years and will miss him soooo much.
