Update on my baby Kakariki parakeets.
Sadly the oldest chick stopped gaining any weight and despite being removed for hand rearing it passed away on Saturday. It was a tiny little thing so nature must have known it wasnt meant to be. RIP little 'Peanut'
However, I am pleased to report that its two younger sibling are thriving.
They are now 3 weeks old.
This is Tinker - a little girl. She will be all green with a red crown above her beak.
And here is Tailor - a little boy. He will be green with yellow with a red crown. The patches of white fluff will become yellow feathers and grey fluff will be green feathers. You can already see one lovely yellow tail feather coming through (just like his mom!).
I am planning on bringing them in the house at 7 weeks (after my holiday) to tame and harness train before selling them as pets.
I am thrilled to bits with them so far (just wish I still had the three....)
