Hi lovely H&H people.

For those who remember my previous posts I'm happy to report my baby girl is now all better and lump free. We had our first ride together in nearly 3 months tuesday evening.
So I now have a lorry and a healthy happy youngster. So this leads me to ask for some advice with starting to take her out and about.
She has been boxed before and we have been so careful not to scare her or rush her and so far so good. So now it's time to start taking her out and about and get her used to being boxed - ridden - boxed - taken home.
She's just turned 5 and in all fairness is a fairly level headed youngster. Any advice welcomed.

I would just hire a local school and take her out there, school her and then box home.
That's what I did when I first got my box and my mare was only 5 at the time.
I didn't know what to expect, as she is reasonably stressy by nature, but she was perfectly fine.

We used to go out every other weekend to hire places to jump, xc school etc before she got injured, so she was used to going out in the box to be ridden :)

Also try taking her to some local shows and just let her se everything, you don't have to compete just let her get used to the atmosphere, the business and if she's feeling ok tack her up and have a little try in the warm up ring :) xx

Thanks guys very good suggestions. There's a RS that hires out their areana about 30 minutes away so I could take her there. They also run lots of shows over the summer :)
