As above really! Front feet wider than long (one worse than the other ) and the flare has caused a couple of cracks. Unhappy with farrier trim so have been using a radius rasp to bring in the flare and it's looking much better. Back feet however are much longer and narrower? Too long and narrow IMO- wound squaring off the tie a little help them widen? Btw he's rising three and want feet fixed before backing! He's a traditional cob, barefoot, good weight etc .

Front feet being rounder than back feet is normal. If you aren't happy with the farrier's work, have a chat about it or change to another one. It's important to feel happy about his work, but a conversation with him may be enough to allay your concerns.

Thanks, they're just quite noticeably different :-( maybe one the front flare is under control it'll look more normal. Farrier is at yard twice a week whilst I'm at work but actually getting him on the phone is a small miracle lol

When my mare had a flare on the front my farrier took it right back as far as he could and left the shoes off for 12 weeks and it has not returned, I have found really regular trims is the answer to not allow the hoof to get to long for the flare to start, and also agree that back hooves always tend to be narrower than the front.
