Hummm. I'm not sure I'd jump my 6 yr old without any back boots. If they want to ban the "performance enhancing" boots, then fair enough. But banning ALL boots seems a bit excessive.....
i thought weighted boots were already banned from age classes or was it only style and performance. I know they were checking boots when I did the S&P on fleur...
When they were banned from the future event horse classes over here this summer the reason given was that it was impossible for a steward to tell the difference between ordinary and weighted back boots without taking them off the horse. There was an awful kick up by some of the producers at the time, some boycotted it or rode HC with boots on. As far as I know the organisers didn't back down though.
Fter my horse throwin a whopper of a splint behind almost 100% due to catching himself when jumping as I neevr used back boots, I would be annoyed that the choice has been taken away from me!
i dont really wan to jump my horses without back boots.
i think things such as the neoprene eskradron (?) boots should be allowed for protection of the horse.
i do agree that weighted/ performance enhancing boots should be banned as it does give people an advantage on those who dont use them
lol i suppose it isnt a huge problem for me as my rising 4yr old HATES back boots!
like someone said above its annoying that the choice has been taken away.
also i will be jumping 7yr olds next year and they are big so it seems silly to take away what protection you can give your horses legs
I think weighted ones etc. should be banned in ALL classes personally. In age classes I dont see why they cant wear neoprene / leather type ones for protection?! Maybe its just because its too tough to check all hind boots that they aren't weighted?
I agree. Does anyone else think the BSJA should try to have some back-up to the very few stipendiary stewards, who would have the right to spot-check boots etc?
