Friday afternoon- Ok so we set off for camp at 3pm Friday afternoon sooooo excited, not sure what Tommy will make of it, he's only just 4yo so i was a bit worried.
So i took him out of the trailer and into his field, that was sectioned off into 10 small paddocks with electric tape. He was great, there were 13 horses there altogether that had not met each other before and they all behaved so well. Tommy was so amazed that he could see so many horses in one place at one time he just stood there a bit dazed for a while, you could see him taking it all in, so sweet.
Ok so as he was settled for the evening with all of his new pals off i go to set up camo with my friends and crack open the wine :p
All went well we got our schedule for Saturday and i was really looking forward to it and of course a bit nervous too:eek:
Saturday morning- After breakfat i was off to collect the boy, thinking calm Kate, he will be fine. On the agends for ua first thing was a half hour flat lesson followed by very small x country fences, eek he has never jumped before:eek:. So all tacked up and me in body protector, we had a great flat lesson i learnt a lot, it's surprising what you can learn from a different instructor.
Ok so now we were off to the cross country course, i went a nice shade of white! Ok so you go first Kate, it was a telegraph pole raised about three inches off the floor, so i walked him up to it thinking look up ,look up, and he walked straight over it like it was nothing, so then we walked back over then tried it in trot and he did a lovely little pop over it, hence a very proud mummy :D
So ack to the trailer for a lovely hose down (for me and him) and back in paddock while we all had lunch.
After lunch it's dressage, he has not done a test before and there were scarey long white things on the ground that he has never seen before!
I was doing intro B, i had a caller, it seemed to go really well
Back to trailer for another wash off then back in paddock while i had some light refreshments.
Next on the agenda was handy horse, so i am thinking yeah right he's no way going to walk over that tarpaulin! He did didn't think twice about it, as cool as a cucumber:cool: ok back to the trailer for another wash off and then back in the field, i was a very proud mummy at this point as you can imagine :D
So we had a barbeque that evening and a bit more wine of course and a bit of a late night as the wine really got flowing;)
Sunday morning- Planned for today was half hour flat lesson then into the jumping field gulp again!, so lesson went really well again then body protector on again, trotting poles first really good, he really picked his feet up well, great, then a bank which we had to go up and down, really good, we even did it in trot, then the water tray! and again he just did it like a pro, i was as pleased as punch with him, hosed him off then in paddock as that was him finished for the weekend as it was a show jumping competition in the afternoon followed by a buffet and then the presentation ;)
So the presentation comes, i think i may have come somewhere in the handy horse as he did everything, but just at a walk, so maybe not as it was timed!
Anyway we got a fifth, which put a smile on my face my first rosette with Tommy yay.:D
Now it was the dressage results, you will never believe this, out of 6 of us we only came FIRST yes, i was absolutely overwhelmed i had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye, OMG, my baby had come first, so we got a trophy and a big red rosette wooooooo hooooooo.

Ice cream with extra sprinkles if you have got this far, i don't think i have ever posted such a long post!
I know it's self indulgent but i just had to:cool:

I can't tell you how chuffed i am with my boy and will try and get some piccies up asap

Thanks for reading

How fantastic i bet you are really excited, well done for taking him.

Horses always managed to surprise and sometimes in a good way....:D

That's fantastic - well done you! (and Tommy, obviously). What a confidence boost.

I didn't know they did camps for us grown ups - thought the kids got all the fun on that front. Interesting... :-)
