Had a team selection clinic over the weekend, and it was FAB.
We were meant to go Thursday evening, but it was cold, so we left it till the morning.
5 AM we loaded Rory, who was a bit naughty
, then tried to start the lorry. It was bust
, rang lorry people, but managed to start it before they came
. Reloaded pony, who was very naughty this time. He didn't not load, just made a right old faff of it. We set off, surprising only 30 mins late. And got there with plenty of time to spare. Rory went in a HUGE posh stable, and we did course walking. After doing a bit of grooming for other people and general helping it was Rory's time. Put him to (in the snow and blizzards), walked round, and just as we stood for our first lesson, he got his tongue over the bit
. Sorted it out, despite Dad looking at me blankly when I asked him to help so I had to get off to do it
, which is naughty driving. Managed to get through that lesson, but he wasn't happy in his mouth. I know he doesn't like his bit, but dad wont let me change it. I wanted him in a flash and snaffle, but dad says a snaffle wont be strong enough (he is a fine, obedient section B
), and he doesn't need a flash
. Started cones lesson- tongue over the bit
, sorted, one more lap, and over again
. Took curb off, and then he didn't do it again all weekend, but he did over bend trying to. Teacher said try him in a snaffle and flash.
. I tapped about 3 cones during the lesson, which wasn't great. Went in for the marathon. Had walked it taking a tight line, when I got there a trainer was standing in the way
, so redirected, but all was good. The first time I did it I got a cone down during an obstacle, second time I was clear, and 3rd I tapped but didnt push over a barrel. I also got lost for about 3 strides, but that didnt matter. Rory was fab
, fastest (or very nearly
) of every one
. We then had some team building which involved me carrying a rather small child on my back
, but it was a right laugh. The next day, we had another flat work lesson, which was good, not tongues over bits. Then a general discussion, about what to improve for every one. Apparently ponies should be fitter, but not Rory
( the specifically said he was ideal fitness, maybe a bit too fit), harness should be smarter (wink at father, although doubt ill get nicer stuff.) and that was it really. Went to go home, lorry bust again, go to get a jump start from the other Essex person, there lorry is bust too
, so the lorry man came out for both of us
In my age group there are now 5 of us, going for the spaces. Not quite sure how many will be for our age group, but at least 2 spaces. And Rory is one of the smallest ponies
, and Im almost the only girl
It was a really good weekend, not many other places you can get training from 3 dirrent world medal winners.
Next weekend off to the indoor national championships, hoping to be placed, win at least one obstacle and get overall best obstacles in my class.
Don't want much do I. ALthough they do have a bridge there
, and my track record with them is ermm. crashing
.
