I had a try of the back in action mobiliser on their stand at Badminton - it felt amazing afterwards and I’m considering saving up to buy one.

I thought I would ask the horse and hound collective whether anyone else has any experience of them?

It’s a LOT of money and I want to be sure that it will make a lasting difference. I don’t want to spend a load of money on it only to find my body gets used to it after a while, or it isn’t that well made etc.

I tried it on their stand too and it did feel amazing. I believe you can hire them too. But then I did a lot of pilates and yoga and don't have the same degree of pain anymore.

I hired one for my other half as a surprise Christmas present. We ended up having it for 2 months. We both enjoyed using it and I think it definitely helped him with general mobility and lower back stiffness (sits in a chair all day). I did become looser after using it too. It was very relaxing and we used to do 15 -30 minutes in the evening whilst listening to the TV! Because neither of us had a real problem I don't think it made a massive difference so couldn't justify hiring it for longer or buying one.

I was lucky enough to win a competition, main prize is a lesson with Spencer Wilton (booked for end of June :)) the competition was run in conjunction with Back in Action and as part of the prize I will get an assessment on the day and use of it before i ride on day of my lesson, I believe then get to trial it at home foc for a month or so as well, I am very interested to see what how it benefits my riding and if helps me become looser and give more mobility in the saddle. as a creaky 50 year old i need all the help i can get - I will report back !

I've got that! Its ok. Its big rotating metal balls inside so it works like a massage. It does help a bit but its also uncomfortable if you use it too long or too much. I dont think its anything like the back in action one is it?

no, I describe the back in action as a bit like a large nobbly roller that you don't have to move yourself. Pressure controlled by padding but how anyone gets off full padding was totally alien to me, I think I had it for 2 or 3 months can't remember.

I have a homedics thing too and that's 2 connected balls that rotate round each other.

You know when you've tried most things :p, yes that!
