I've been coming on here for a little while now reading posts but this is my first time posting.
I used to ride as a child and had a lovely 13.2 school mistress from when I was 10 till I went to university. Since then I've had 3 children and I've always wanted to start riding again but never had the opportunity.
Recently my girls have started riding a friends pony and through them I came across someone at the same stables wanting to loan their horse out. After riding him a few times I've started to loan him
He's a 16.2 ex racer and can be a handful so he's taking a bit of getting used too but there's lots of support on the yard keeping me right with his care and I'm doing a lot of schooling to get my confidence back up and try and teach him that he doesn't need to canter every where (his past loaner was a young girl who apparently only had one pace). He's lovely and very responsive and my riding is improving though Im mainly concentrating on walking, trotting and stopping at the minute
Hes in a snaffle with no martingale but does throw his head about a lot, I'm trying to contact his owner to see when his teeth were last checked as I know that can be a cause. Any other suggestions gladly received though.
