I did it! Had my first lesson in about 8 years today! This is how my day played out...
I left super early this morning as I know traffic going towards my destination is murder in the mornings! All very well and good, following my trusty sat nav! So it took me 45 mins to do a 12 minute drive... Finally get near to the stables and am still following the sat nav, I drove past the road that I thought I was meant to go down and kept on following SN. Now.. SN directs me down a dirt track.. I can see tyre marks and it wouldn't surprise me being a stables and all so.. In I turned. Driving down down this boggy muddy single lane track starting to get a little worried! Turned the corner of said dirt track and a family of foxes are just sat... Chilling out.. There's about 6 huge foxes! So I keep driving, my poor mini's wheels are spinning, sliding all over the place then SN says turn left... Into a river... It was about this time I decided this wasn't the way and I had better try and turn around and go back down the road I thought I needed to go down. Managed to finally turn around on the track! Phew! And eventually found the stables!
It was lovely! Everyone on the yard said good morning and I had a lovely instructor!
I rode a huge chunk of a cob! Pretty gorgeous! Probably about 16.2, lovely comfy ride! Had a fab lesson and realised just how unfit I really am! My position was good and need to work on the correct leg aids for canter etc! And to keep my reins short! But apart from that all was good! Oh and nearly squishing a cat but that's another story!
So I'm booked in again next week! I can already feel my muscles and think I'm going to be walking like John Wayne tomorrow!
sorry for the ramblings! Smoothies and cupcakes for all! X
