Despite my best intentions to continue riding during my pregnancy, at a mere 5.5 months I discovered that I was just too tired, too big and too scared to ride. Things only got worse as the pregnancy progressed and towards the end I was grateful if I could manage a slow shuffle on very even ground, with frequent breaks to recover! All of which was followed by a c-section, which was very pleasant in itself, but by then I had to kiss goodbye to any semblance of abdominals I may still have left.

HOWEVER, 5.5 later, I am back in the saddle!!! :D I checked my Ariats for mice, managed to find a top that still vaguely fit me (breastfeeding does wonders for one's physique), squeezed my ample behind into a pair of jodhpurs, passed the buggy to my long suffering groom (wheeling around screaming newborns was never in her job description, but she is a total sweetheart and helps out with everything!) and popped on Cakey!!! (discretion being the better part of valour I decided that spooky Rusky or buckey Freddy were not a good choice for easing myself back into things).

Three rounds of the school in walk, one in trot and one massive stitch later, it is done! I am officially riding again! :D

Might be a while before I can post in CR but at least it's a start!

love this post! Also had a c section got back on 3 months later i dont know what possesed me! very wind day - mare in season off for a solo hack LOL! she did canter home sideways on the verge point blank refusing to slow down - but better than bolting surely?! :D

congrats on the little 1 and being back in the saddle x

The good news is that I am still ambulatory today so will try another little sit tomorrow! :)

JCWHITE: oh how sweet! My Cakey is a total star as well! He was called Jaffa when he came (because he is ginger and the connection to Jaffa oranges) but somehow that just didn't work, I kept thinking of Jaffa cakes, hence Cakey!
