Was speaking to friend on our yard this morning and she is getting back lady to her horse friday as hes gone a bit stiff on one rein and she knows its his back. Anyway she was asking me if I wanted a session while she was down. Initially I said no as I dont want to fix what isnt broken and had visions of her pulling his back etc. Anyway she said it isnt that type of back person and this one checks it over then uses a kind of machine with massage pads which she places at various point on the back and then runs a vibrating device along the neck and back. She said she had it done on her horse before and he was like a diferent horse afterwards (in a good way).

Its £15 a session - I havent asked anything else yet as only went down to put Baron out and had to shoot home. But wondered if anyone has heard of this type of therapy before and perhaps could ponit me in the direction of a website where I can read about it? Or has anyone had this type of back person out to their horse and what was your verdict?

Perhaps watch what she does on your friends horse this time - and if you like what you see, book her in for Baron at a later date??

sounds like Equissage or similar rather than manipulation/physio/chiropractic. i am sure it is very nice for the horse, and warms up and loosens the muscles nicely..I don't believe there is a long term benefit from one treatment if this is all she does. If there is some physio as well it would be more beneficial.

Sounds incredibly cheap to me. I would check that the person is a qualified physio or if not what she is qual to do. Anyone can get machines and run them over horses' backs.

It wont do any harm.. lets put it that way.
If i were you i would have it done. Obviously if you can afford.
However i had Ted done yesterday by Mactimoney which was brillient. I can't afford but he is knackered lol.

Dont worry I will check her out before I go ahead, plan to get her name tonight and give my instructor a ring (she owns a riding school and knows just about everyone).

Also AmyMay, good idea. This girl is planning quite a few sessions so perhaps could watch friday and then if I think it looks good get Baron done after or on her next visit.
