Recently come across the fact my 19year old mare is tonnes better when she is kept really warm.
Pondering on the back on track equipment and whether this would make a difference?

What is everyone's experience with their rugs or saddlecloths?

Excellent - they do stuff for people & dogs too, so you can use it yourself to check out how effective the products are!
We sell them in the shop & online & they sell really well.

Hi yes I have mesh rug, saddlecloth, poll cap and no bow wraps!!! Love back on track stuff - really helps keep my kissing spine girl more flexible - go for it!

Love them, have saddle cloths and mesh rug. Also have a t- shirt which I sleep in and I swear i am less achy in the mornings when I wear it.

I love my mesh rug, found it very useful for keeping old boy warmed up before riding. I also have t shirt which I wear under everything in the winter and it keeps me warm and supple and its nice and long too

I can understand the rugs/wraps being useful in keeping warmth in, but surely this is the opposite of what one wants in a saddlecloth/numnah in all but the coldest weather. I always want the heat to be able to escape from under the saddle area.?

I use the rug for after work. I would never use before work as I've seen horses go crazy (including my own!) if used before. I have no idea why - but for that reason I would never use a saddle cloth etc.

I would recommend the mesh rug as it's the most versatile.

I also have human products which just re-iterates why you should build up use slowly as they made me feel quite odd to begin with!

my horse wears her mesh rug under her turnout all the time (except for one week a month as directed so the horse deosnt get used to it)
she has wraps on overnight
poll cap whilst working and in field under fly mask and saddlecloth when working

My horse likes to be kept overwarm and works far nicer, more realxed if kept that way. I spend lots of time and effort to keep her warm, flexible, core muscles strong, body work etc - for her Kissing spines which she has injected (I dont want the operation) Having ridden her in a normal saddlecloth and a back on track one - the back on track keeps the muscles more relaxed and probably warmer - but then if you out running cold muscles spasm.
