I know these have been discussed before, but I'm wondering what feedback people have about these products and if they're worth it, and if so, should I splash out on the fly-type-rug rather than just the back pad/warmer? - my horse has tight back muscles, and I think it could be very helpful but am wondering what the best investment is? - or the saddle pad...?

I got the back pad - it has velcro across the middle, so I just stitched one side of the velcro on a cheap cooler rug and now have a handy back on track rug 😀

Thank you, great idea - that might be my best plan - specifically for back/lumbar area so as long as it covers that, sounds like it could save me £100 or so...!

i got the warmer pad first and then bought a rug second hand on ebay. I'm not sure I would pay the full amount for the mesh rug but the warmer pad is great value. You can attach it with the velcro inside a rug, I really rate their stuff.

Have a look at the non-horse options too - there is a small blanket that may be cheaper that you could add velcro to etc, so may be worth looking at all possibilities for full flexibility of use!

I had a look on ebay, the large dog blanket is 50cm x 68cm @£32, wondered about trying this for my horse, guessing it would be about the same size as a saddlecloth. And maybe get one for myself too

I have the mesh rug for my horse. I have had it a few years but only used it recently, I really rate it! Great suggestions on how to manufacture your own
