Also in Vets

Tonight, little sister got on her pony (13.1 welsh D x exmoor) who was fine in walk, seemed happy enough and accepting the bit nicely..
But after a few circles in walk she put her into trot, and her ears went back, she looked tucked up and unbalanced, and was sticking her head out to one side. Not a happy girl. So she walked again...fine.. trotted...same thing again!

We got my sister off and i had her trot Bonnie up, sound as a pound, nothing seemed wrong with her.
Took saddle off and had a poke, no reaction.
Asked another livery if they thought her saddle might not be fitting her (i trust this livery's judgement) and she said she reckoned the saddle was fine.
So Hannah got back on and we looked again, watched her trot, same as before.

Anyone any ideas?
I think we'll have the vet out if shes the same tomorrow but just thought id post incase anyone had any thoughts

Thanks!

Is she turned out she might have pulled some thing in all this mud could be a bit sore maybe?? Just an idea. But sounds like it might be worth getting a saddler out just to make sure. Because as much as we think we know we are not saddlers at the end of the day (unless your friend is one) so perhaps ask the professional if you get my gist. Not sure how that sounds not sayin your friend doesnt know what shes talking about. Please dont bite my head off

too much grub and not enough work? teeth? cos she can? surely you know if she has enough turnout and work? whether pony had dropped or expanded in weight? and a basic knowledge of whether it fits or not? is the saddle in balance on the seat? is it rising in front or behind? what straps are you girthing on? is it a native with a big shoulder? do you have a point strap? etc

One of the pony mares at the riding school I sometimes teach at has done something similar to this and I think it was related to her being in season - kind of period pain. I know it's a bit early for them to start cycling, but if she is well-fed and stabled it's a possibility?

Shes on a strict diet as she can have a tendency to gain weight!
Her teeth COULD do with a look at, id not thought of that, thankyou!
She's not gained any weight recently, shes maintained it rathe well.
Tbh the saddle seems to fit her fine, she is native but doesnt have a massive shouder.

Though, she did go out in our winter turnout paddock this afternoon for a few hours and there was much rolling and hooning about.
There was also an incident with an agressive gelding and my broodmare, Bonnie was also in the paddock at the time. Would it be possible she slipped whilst running around and pulled something?

Thats an interesting thought! Sister did ask me the other day if it was possible for her to be in season now.. as she was being a bit 'seasony' last week...hmmmm
