Yet another numpty question I'm afraid!

Frankie is just coming back in to work (hacking) and I was thinking it might be worth getting his back checked over just to check for any initial problems etc and hopefully to set us on the right track for building muscle in the right places (he's ridden in a treeless saddle).

I've seen people talk about lots of different types of back people - can anyone suggest people that might be suitable?

Gillian : http://www.equinemassageandmanipulation.co.uk/ is REALLY good! its only soft tissue not skeletal manipulation, but tbh, if you manipulate the soft tissue, it will to some degree manipulate the skeleton (which might be gentler than cracking it back in to place)

she is the only one I have seen working round here, but thats just from the yard I work at! but she is great!
she is the lady who goes to your horse live etc who paints the skeleton and that on her horse!

You're absolutely right about getting his back checked as you bring him back into work. You can find your local fully qualified, fully insured Veterinary Physiotherapist at www.acpat.org (ACPAT is the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy, so all members qualified to work with humans initially, then worked with humans, then went on to train with animals - a minimum of 7yrs training, which is as long as it takes to become a vet!).

Bear in mind that anyone who treats your horse should only do so with veterinary consent - here's a link to more information on the law regarding this: http://www.holistichorsehelp.com/page3/page8/page8.html

Hope this helps,

Sue
