my horse-16.1hh irish draft has never had any major back problems-just everyday niggles and have previously used a back lady who tends to "throw" my horse to re align anything-however my instructor has said that altho she used to use same lady for horses at her livery yard she no longer does so as feels its not beneficial to have such drastic treatments!has reccomended me a chap who tends to work more with massaging treatments-any bodys thoughts on these two ways of back treatment- ps forgot to add that today she thought his right hip looked slightly lower when he moved.

I have found the gentler techniques better for Pip and Rory. Pip has never had a thing wrong (Every back person is amazing

) But the other lady still felt the need to almost put him on the floor pushing him. With Rory he is more obviously getting better from a whole host of problems with a gentler technique.

I'm of the other school! My 'back man' is of the not throw but 'hitch' it back in./ My horse is 26/27 and my chiri has been looking after him for 18 years and he was always the better and more comfortable for it.

If and when my new baby horse needs to see someone I will ask my same chap to come back but if it doesn't suit him |I will look in to alternatives.

I think it should very much be the preference of the horse and not the owner
