I'm having all the applicable people out to check but I wanted to run it past HHO

My horse before he came to me had a badly fitted saddle, he has some muscle wastage

When I run my fingers down both sides of his spine simultainiously at one point his near side dips, not violently just enough to tell its doing so

I havent had him long and have ridden him twice also lunged and long reined but all times he has had a right face on him, and refusing to do much more than walk. I am told he hates working in the field and this is why , but Im concerned theres more to it

He has had his current saddle fitted

Any advice welcome

my god what with sarcoids and back problems, I'm sure we own the same horse. I'm trying to find a good osteopath, have you had his saddle professionally checked. horses eh, how do we cope? lol. gud luck

Definately get the vet out, if your chaps dipping under finger pressure he's in pain. You're best to get it investigated properly first and don't push him too hard until you have the all clear; his reactions are telling you he has a problem. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Hes 13, I wouldnt be surprised if arthritis was in there somewhere as hes been worked fairly hard in his life by all account. Hes now come up lame on his off fore as well so somethings not right somewhere.

Will let you know how it goes, hes happy though it means he gets more time off lol
