Just a question, I need to get a new back protector and would like to know what ones you guys have and you opinions on them ie how comfy/heavy they are? I have looked at the racesafe ones and I think I like them

thanks in advance

my gf has just got a kantech 1 and she really likes it she says you can hardly feel it and allows you alot more manouverability xc than most body protectors.

I've got a racesafe one (I think it's a racesafe 3000?) and I love it. I haven't had anything else for ages, so can't compare it with others really, but it's really light and comfortable and far more flexible than most (and you can order them in any combination of colours from treehouse)

i've got an Exo which i swear by, but i know most people are put off by the weight.
of the other, normal bps, i am convinced the Kan is by far the most protective, it's made of smart-foam (developed for motorbike rider protection) which hardens up against an impact and then relaxes again. (previous posts describing how this works!) isn't irreparably damaged after just 1 hard impact either, because of it relaxing etc, and doesn't go brittle with age and need replacing after about 4 yrs. they're a little bit heavier than a bp with the normal foam but it's worth it for the huge increase in protection.
btw, there's 10% off them at Burghley with the code ref KAN09HO as well... they'll be at Ayr saddlery.
i'm not involved with the company at all, but it annoys me hugely that BE is proposing to spend our money on exploring protection from other sports (as outlined in their new 16-point Safety Plan) and deliberately ignoring the fact that someone has already done this (very recently), that this technology is already there for riders to wear, but BE refuses to give it the prominence it gave the Point2 (presentation at Regional meeting, etc.) Very very annoying, i'd rather BE spent our money on sorting out the withdrawals debacle, or on something new, not on retreading recent ground.

I have just received my new Kan and sadlY havent had the chance to go xc i it yet:( but have worn it around the yard and it DOES feel heavy when you first hold it but once on it's like a hug and by far the most 'second skin' feeling BP I have ever tried on and after a few seconds wearing it it fits so well you forget the weight altogether, can't wait to go xc in it at MK3DE

Deffo recommned that she at least tries one on as it is a very different BP experience (a better one imho)

I tried on the KanTeq and the Airowear female shaped one - of the two I prefered the Airowear, although the KanTeq wasn't the perfect size, so maybe that would have helped.

I have always struggled with BP's as I am fairly slim (size 6-8 on top) but I have large boobs for my size and tend to feel very squished and claustrophobic in some makes.

It was the length that wasn't right, if I remember rightly....the lady said something about shorter lengths being avalible but they didn't stock them. It was about 6 months ago, so my memory is hazy...

RS2000 definately. Its excellent, its all hinged bits so its so comfy I forget Im wearing it and you can move it in no problem. They do lots of sizes and also offer 2 lengths of back I think. I found I was a childs large somehow!

I brought a racesafe one last year at Burghley and it is the most comfortable body protecter I have ever had.
My last one restricted me from moving around but the racesafe ones are very flexable. You can get them in all sorts of colours which is great!

Mine was fitted and adjusted by Wendy who designed them - she took it away and altered the length for me FOC, I just paid a bit of postage for it to be sent back.

I think the Kan is brilliant - not only is it the only one that allows you to breathe, but the built in shoulder protection is exactly where you need it (top of shoulder).

They do feel a little heavy when you pick them up, but once they are on they are very comfy.

FWIW I totally agree with Kerilli re BE and their lack of acknowledgement of the research that has gone into the Kan bp.
