Hi
Was just wondering if anyone here has had similar problems an knows what to do.
2 years ago while on holiday I had a snowboarding accident and broke my tailbone. I had to sell my horse i had then as she was a TB and was too good and too much work to lie in a field for 6+ months while i recovered.
Anyway when i do cross country and as i am constantly up out the saddle i think i must sit funny to compensate for my tail bone so I dont end up getting hurt, this then hurts my lower back and makes it very stiff and painful for a few days after. I do sometimes get a sore back when riding in general but is definately worse when i do xc.
I have bought myself a back support but havent been able to try it out yet. Just wondered does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

I feel for you, back pain sucks!

The only thing I've found that helps was Dicloflex (75mg), prescribed by my GP.

It's a non-steroidal, anti inflammatory drug. You can by stuff containing lesser quantities of diclofenac over the counter, I think.

I do still have some back pain & stiffness after riding, but it helps to take the edge off, especially after jumping.

Having tried back supports, pilates, heat wraps, painkillers etc, it's the only thing for me that makes any difference.

Hope it improves for you

Pilates to strengthen (and maybe alexander technique)

Heat pad (you can get big plug in jobs or microwave gel filled thingies) for easing stiffness afterwards.

Volterol gel for if it is really bad.

Try Bowen Therapy. It's very gentle, subtle and non-invasive - but works really well for back pain and other muscular-skeletal disorders. Google "Bowen Therapists European Register" to find a qualified therapist near you.

Thanks guys i will try everything!
Forgot to say im only 16 so want to get it sorted quickly before i can hardly walk by the time im 25 haha
