Blimey, Sunday when I had a lesson my instructor kept having to tell me to put my heels down. Now I do consider myself to be a half decent rider and don't ever usually get told to change something about me, usually just things to do to help the horse along etc, so I thought it was odd and wondered if when cleaning saddle had put stirrups down a hole by mistake.
Didn't think any more of it until I was schooling yesterday and felt my heels right up again - this time in the other saddle! So I decided to pop stirrups up as I wasn't my main concern, it was the horse. It was so weird, they were too short, so in exasperation I took my own stirrups away and did some trot work without them.
I found out my legs are actually at least 3 inches longer than I thought, and that my rimfrost riders fall off if I relax my foot!!!??
When I took my stirrups back, at original length we carried on as if no problem, leg in correct position once more - I obviously just needed to go back to basics for some reason?!
Any one else ever needed to go back to basics when you really weren't expecting it?
Creme egg for getting this far!
