Back to vet charges

Conversely, Goose went back for a check up on his gammy paw, which the vet pronounced to be ‘looking good’ then charged us £42! They then sent us a survey and I had to write that I was not thrilled to be charged when check ups/follow ups have always been free there. First time I’ve been charged for a follow up. Must be a new policy, but it will make me hesitate in future. I could have looked at the paw and said the same! I don’t think vets should work for free, but at least tell us there’s now a charge for that.

Unless it’s a post surgery check , which tends to be free, I have always paid a reduced charge for a follow up . You are still benefitting from vets time and opinion after all .

Horse vet is a wonderful, extremely capable and reasonably-priced bloke.

Dog vets are part of a chain, so not cheap, but willing to discuss treatment options with prices, but the prices of feeds and supplements are unbelievably high. Yellow dog was diagnosed with canine IBD and they suggested a special grain and gluten free kibble. A tiny (3kg?) bag of Royal Canin was £73. Didn't buy it.

If I’m certain the problem has resolved, I tend not to bother with follow ups, especially if it’s something minor. My vets charge again for them.
