Well its done, the two Harrington rods were removed from my back on Wednesday and I'm now pottereing round home. All I can say is how great the NHS has been about the whole thing. The operation was carried out in the RBH by Mr McKenna and his great team. While I'm not out of the woods yet at least the rods are out having done their job of holding L2 together and in place. I have a feeling if I was a 40 year old office worker who collected stamps then they would have taken a lot more pursuasion to take them out. Now it up to me to get my back up to full strength and maximise my bone density. Pilates was highly recomended and I promissed that I would not get back on a horse for at least 6 weeks (or first Xray) to make sure everthing has healed up properly. Will be sat at home next week bored so feel free to drop me a line about broken backs and recovering from them. It's been a hard slog at times but i have had a lot of support from my wife family and friends. Mind you still manged to put a new floor in the lorry and put a new roof on a field shelter just putting credence to the fact that if your bloody minded enough you can do almost anything!
