As most of you know I got my lovely Boy Jack back at the beginning of January and I can honestly say it has been the best month ever
I have to pinch myself daily to remind me it isn't a dream and he is now mine and here to stay. I have spent the last month strengthening him back up and having a few jumping lessons, it is funny when you haven't jumped a big fence in a while how big small jumps look. Jack soon settled in to his routine and feels more and more like his old self everyday. We moved last weekend to our own property with stables and land which is amazing and very exciting
So on to this weekend I finally felt ready to take him to a show. We decided on Moulton College to jump the 1m05 and 1m10, I was very rusty and thought this would be a nice easy start for us. Paddymonty kindly kept us updated on how the show was progressing, it was very quiet and they were not sure if they would even run the bigger classes! We decided to set off anyway as they kindly said that they would let us jump a schooling round if the show was cancelled. Luckily they did have enough entries so we could jump competitively. Walked the 1m05 course thinking it was A4 as per the schedule thought it was weird that there were 12 jumps but planned my route anyway taking a few tight turns. Jack warmed up like an old pro went in a jumped a super clean clear with little help from me! I was really happy and hoped we had done enough, turns out there were only 2 clears and I was 13 seconds ahead so took the win
When I was collecting my rosette found out it was actually single phase and I jumped it as a speed class opps everyone must have thought I was mad. Next up was the 1m10 this was running A7 (I double checked this time) Again I hindered Jack to the best of my ability but he jumped lovely for another clear. There were only 3 of us through to the jump off I was drawn 2nd, the first rider was quick but had 1 down, I set off well Jack did everything I asked of him and finished clear in a good time. As the final rider set off it was clear she was going steady so we won again by 10 seconds this time
I can't believe it, we haven't been to a show since June and we have only been back together a month.
Our aim this year is to make it to Grade B and after yesterday we are only £173 away so hopefully we will do it! Sorry no pictures of the day but here a few from at home:
