Backed at 4, still turn away?

He looks quite immature and still needs a lot of furnishing, so just going off the photos, I would probably turn away for a few months over winter after a summer of hacking.

But I take mine very slowly now and they get plenty of groundwork and breaks, other people do things differently :)
 
No problem with giving a horse time to grow up but a big problem with a private seller selling lots of different horses. Google the phone number.
 
I like the horse, he's a lot for your money and there's a lot more to come yet. Only we Brits turn away horses on a routine basis. On the continent they generally work them from when they are backed at 3. I would ride him gently until he is stronger and lay off too many circles and tight turns. He's very big, he won't mature until he is nine or ten if he's like the one I bought who looked like him at 4. You'll need to be patient and wait for him to be strong enough to do more difficult stuff. I can't see the videos, but if he moves well and straight-enough he's a lot of horse for £4,000.
 
Thanks guys, cptrayes, my thoughts exactly but then the 'too good to be true' pops into the head! :)

Owner is sending me some more recent videos so if they look good and my friend/instructor/mentor likes them too we will go have a looksie, though my heart is in getting a clydesdale cross though they are a bit like rocking horse wotsit so thought I would be a bit broader in my search!

i wouldn't touch anything that's had its legs cooked in bandages:confused:, young horses need some concussion to build stronger tendons, it has been proven, but im not that good at finding research, behind the wither looks odd to me, im wondering if he isn't just 1 big project at a huge cost, and the fact "sorry" your asking a simple question suggests some degree nativity , there are probably horses on project horses that need less work than he does,
