Backing horses - weight of jockey

Down to 10st 5 now so am now lighter than the lightest person available to back her at the stud. I'll have to see how much I weigh when June comes along (although I am also having a shoulder operation then). But it looks like she will be staying here for backing and if need be I will advertise for a light weight person to be the first on board if I am still to heavy or my shoulder doesn't heal in time.

Hey that's great... Well done. Hope shoulder op goes well for you so you can crack on with your girly in June. Best of luck. Looking forward to photo updates!

Sounds ideal! I'm sure she will grow and fill out too. My 4yo has grown 1.5 inches in the last year and he's rising 5! He's also filled out lots :)

Thanks. Yes, I'll be getting pictures up once she is backed. :)

I hope she grows! She has lovely conformation apart from her feet which are SO small. I hope they grow a bit as they are dainty and I don't like small feet. Too many problems. They HAVE grown a lot though since I got her. She had foal feet age two. How big is yours now?

Mine hasnt grown upwards, but the difference in his bulk and bone between 2 and 5 is almost unbelievable! I thought he was a chuny cob at 3, at 5 hes a tank

Roo's feet have grown quite a lot over the last couple of years. He also used to have tiny little pony feet (which always worried me, as he's TB x ID and an ID body on TB isn't good!) but they've grown noticable, thank god, and now he's got proper clod hoppers

I cant offer any advice, but she is gorgeous.

Thank you! I just love her.

He's almost 5 now (May)

Last summer he was spindly, weedy and lanky looking. All leg, small feet, weedy neck and no chest, although he's always had a deep barrel. But sort of 'complete' looking, everyone said how grown up he looked and just assumed he was mostly TB and naturally light framed.

After 6 months off (partly due to winter but mostly due to attempted field gate jumping and resulting sliced up leg) he's just started work again. He's no fatter than last year (probably leaner in fact) but his hoof boots no longer fit (far too small) his saddle is now too narrow, his 56" used-to-be-almost-too-big girth is now on the tightest hole, with a fight, and his full size adjustable hunter breastplate has had to be let out to the largest holes. Oh, and his bum is starting to stick out of his 6'9 rugs.

He has filled out massively but not grown much is height ( thank god!) since a 4yr old and feels MUCH bigger to ride. Which is unfortunate as he's spent all his University Fund on having his leg stitched back together so will have to make do with what he's got.!! (Apart from his saddle obviously, thankfully it's adjustable!)

There's some hope for my little one then. Though with a German WB sire and a TB dam, she won't be that chunky.
