I am looking for a yard/trainer who takes on youngsters for backing, ideally not too far from Stirling/Glasgow.

I posted about this in the CR a while back but so far haven't found a spot for the winter, so I thought I'd ask here as well. Any recommendations?

i would highly recomend julie smith from lambridden stud. she is fantastic with young horses and does an exellent job. she has now backed and brought on 3 horses for me and they have all been worked well and are fantastic when i get them back

Can second Scott Sinclair, he'll do a fantastic job

If you were considering Scott Brash I can put you directly in touch with the girl who does the backing on his yard and has done a great job on some of her own as well.

Depends what sort of backing you want done really! Some peeps want a horse that is working in a nice outline but has never left the menage, others want a more all round education and a baby that is going forward nicely, hacks out alone/in company and has seen a bit of light traffic etc. We all have different interests and want different things

I used a very good lady called Diana quite close to Glascow - can't remember her second name as having a blonde day. She will have baby going forward and able to walk, trot, canter (on correct leads) and able to hack out when baby comes back. She won't give you a time (mine took 6 weeks) but she is very thorough and does a great job. Its then up to you to chose the speciality and get on with it!!! If that's what you are looking for I'll give you her number if you PM me.

Thank you to everyone posting so far, that is very helpful. It is nice to have a few recommended alternatives, hopefully one of them has a livery space from November onwards.

Do Scott Sinclair or Scott Brash have websites? I haven't been able to find them.

Good point Hollycat, ideally I would like her to hack out and see a bit of traffic as well as walk/trot/canter. Also, she is very green and a sensitive type, so the most important thing for me is to find someone who is patient and good with that type of horse personality :-)

Scott Brash has a website at "ScottBrashequestrian.co.uk" but another you should try is Aileen Craig. She is excellent in breaking and schooling and having jumped and competed at the highest levels in the UK must be worth a try at "AileenCraig.Com"
