Hi guys!

Looking for some advice. I have a rising three filly who I am looking to be backed in the spring. She is 14.2 at the moment and very bum high again! I have had a few names of people who I could potentially send her too. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. She is currently kept in Burghfield, Berkshire and wouldnt be looking to send her miles away. Budget isn't an issue, just want her backed professionally and correctly. I've already invested a great deal of time and money so wouldn't want her to be ruined!

Thanks

Why the rush to get her backed then? If she is very bum high her natural balance will be off anyway, and it will be difficult to get a saddle to fit correctly.

See what she's like after the summer and get ber backed in Autumn if you really need to get her backed early.

Doesn't sound like she's ready yet. Rising 3 is still very young to be backed, and particularly if she's very bum high. Can you not wait til shes evened up a bit and is stronger. I'm fairly local to you, and can probably recommend a couple of people, but I know for sure that none of them will take an early 3 year old who is noticeably bum high.

Rising 3 is a bit young, especially with what sounds like a horse with a lot of growing to be done! Why don't you either start ground work with her towards next winter and send her away next spring, or leave her for another year and send her to a pro then? I aren't local but i'm sure their is lots of people on here who can reccomend brilliant yards near by :)

if she's bum high she isnt ready.

Mine is rising 3 also and i hope to have a gentle sit on around May, but if he's gone bum high again ill just wait longer and keep doing 10mins of gentle in hand work instead.

Echo all above.....if it's too soon then don't do it.

I have a rising 3yo filly and I am hoping to sit on her by April/may time but I won't unless she's ready. Right now she looks like a foal! She's growing upwards like mad, but not filling out...even when I do get on I will only be mooching gently until much later in the year

Think it depends on the individual horse! However i have a rising 3, DWB x Trak filly, that's very immature both Physically & mentally, still looks like a yearling, will probably just continue groundwork this year & back her nxt spring! Im eager to get going with her but don't feel the need to rush things! She standing about 15.2 at the moment & don't think she has a lot more to go height wise but has a great deal if filling out to do!
