Just thought I'd try and see if anyone is interested - I drive and compete from my base in east kent but travel all around the south east and further afield for things like the indoor national finals which was in Bedfordshire. I'm looking for people who are interested in carriage driving and have a sense of adventure, to come out with me and my ponies for exercise, schooling and also to backstep at competitions. I drive single and pair. I can compete with anyone aged 14 and over. Preferably fairly lightweight as my ponies are small!
It can be fast, furious, and alot of fun! The obstacles require very skilled backstepper support, balancing the carriage and sometimes moving it
Any bored teenagers out there? People who would like to know more about driving? The right person might just be allowed to take the reins too!
I am insured;);)

Just to add to this post. My daughter grooms for karen bassett and loves it. She does shoes etc and if someone loves this type of work I would take up the offer and have fun

Another one far too far away but will vouch what a lot of fun carriage driving is...I groom a bit for someone who drives and its wonderful....anyone interested in the right area should definately give it a go :)

Oooo - sounds interesting. I'm 8 1/2 st - is that considered lightweight or are you talking jockey sized people!!

I'd quite like to have a go - I'm in Kent. I do compete on my own pony so wouldn't be able to do loads, but definately interested in knowing more.

Hi,
Thank you to those who have contacted me! I hope to hear from you soon.. :):):):)
For everyone who is not close to me :(:( but would like to find out more, have a look at www.indoordriving.co.uk and www.horsedrivingtrials.co.uk
They both have forums, where you can post if you register, and anyone who is genuinely interested - post a note on the forum with your area and an offer of help - I'm sure there are lots of drivers out there who would be very grateful. Both sites also have details of upcoming events in all the areas - if you go along, they are great spectator sports too, obstacles are really fast and furious, there is nearly always onsite catering :D:D and the indoor stuff is like a driving trial, condensed into an indoor arena ! Excellent fun to watch!! Bit hair-raising at times though...
Everyone is very friendly so anyone wanting to get involved (especially if you post on the forum and say you are coming) people will come and say hello!
Anyone else in Kent - please get in touch if you'd be interested, or even for a chat about driving - but I have enough ponies to work that I'm sure I can keep lots of you amused! ;)
I pay in tea, and chocolate... and a bacon sandwich at events;)
