Hi everyone, my farrier advised i get some bactakil as my horse does suffer with thrush, not bad at all but its there, he also wears wedges for now so it's getting in under the wedge, right to where i can't get to which is the problem.

It arrived today and it has a picture of a cow and sheep on the bottle, is this ok to use on my horse?! i have had a google but can't find much really about if they are suitable for both types of animal.

Thanks!

I don't recognise the name bactakil, but I use purple "hoof spray" from the local farm shop for my horses when they get a bit thrushy which has a picture of a cow and a sheep on the bottle. Generally I have found most cow and sheep external treatments are suitable for horses (and considerably cheaper than the, often identical, horse version) so I wouldn't let it bother me - particularly since the farrier recommended it.

Looks effective. Most thrush type products are used on horses and cloven hooved animals - its the same bacteria / fungi you are trying to kill and none of these species lick thier own feet!

Yes I use it and it’s fine. I don’t think you are meant to use every day. Be careful when you spray the foot it dosnt splash back into your eyes, that hurts!!
