Bad behaviour with the farrier

Massive bucket of pony nut's or such like works for mine, got hit on the shoulder by an old farrier before we had him so everytime he gets shod now he rears and buck dependant on which foot is getting done, used a massive bowl of pony nuts and all we get now is a slight leg wiggle.

Good luck!!! :D

Thanks everyone and in reply to some of it the farrier is a lovley man but not that hot.

As for the mare she only just started having shoes on. I was there the last 2 times she was shod and there wasnt an issue as although i would never hit her unless she was about to squash me she has learnt the personal space area from me.
The farrier wont hit her he asked me if he could an my reply was no unless she was just being rude.
The owner gave her sedalin and that worked as she couldnt react properly.

think its just gonna be one of those that I'm gonna have to work at and see if I can get someone else to help so she gets used to standing with lots of people calmly, well I can hope and pray

The horse I ride has started to be dreadfully with the farrier she rears and spins.

Well, she's doing it for a reason. Either her feet are uncomfortable or....her feet are sore.

My lads have never behaved for their trimmer (me) the way they used to behave for the farrier.

Your horse is trying to tell you something. If this behaviour is out of character to her then I would think she is hurting in her feet. My mare refused to let me even pick her feet out when she was being overtrimmed as her feet were so uncomfortable.

Have a look at this article http://barefoothorseblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/do-horse-shoes-hurt-horses.html and the tiny space farriers have got to fit a nail into without hitting live nerves = ouchy!!!
