??

any ideas whould be great

If it's bad , maybe you could speak with Vet and see if they can give Ventipulmin , get to the cause of the problem and could also get her scoped to see if any infection is present and blood taken.

If she has an identifiable heave line then she probably has COPD. The most common cause for this is an allergic reaction to the dust and spores in hay and it can be controlled by either soaking/steaming the hay or switching to haylage or a specially made, dust and spore free product. Look for other sources of allergens too, such as she might be stabled next door to a horse whose hay isn't soaked or too near the dusty muck heap or hay store. Apart from removing the source of the allergic reaction, the treatment is similar to humans with asthma and the vet can give specific drugs to help. The cheapest and easiest way to manage it is to keep the horse outside as much as possible and to keep the stable spotlessly spore and dust free if the horse has to come in.

Do be aware hun that if the problem is already really bad, your horse may have a permanently reduced lung function. You need some clear info off your vet as to exactly what you are dealing with x

I have seen a horse treated with a mechanical respirator--like a person with asthma, but cant find a reference for it.
Use of this devise enabled this horse to continue doing cross country events and have a good quality of life

My Shetland had a a dry cough, normal breathing and no discharge.
Vet came out and confirmed a chest infection in both sides - shocked was an understatement as he's rugged, is on high quality Haylage & stabled at night in an open fronted stable.
Anyway a week of antibiotics & 2 weeks of ventapulmin and he's fine.
We did have a dodgy batch of woodchip which we suspect may be the cause the vet saw the Haylage and her reaction was no way was it that.
If he has another do he will be scoped, but touchwood he's recovered.
As someone else suggested, out and if having hay steam it - a plastic dustbin, a couple of kettles of boiled water and the lid on for 20 minutes will do the trick. That or good haylage.

thanks guys you have all been great. we had some venapulmin from the vet and he listen to her chest and eveyting when he came. it went within a week of her having it. we did steam her hay so i think i will go back to it.

we think what caused it is having the muck tralier in the shed

which didnt do much good at all. got her some NAF stuff to open her lungs then if this doesnt work think i will get the vet to give us some more ventapulmin

this book is good caroline ingraham - the animal aromatic workbook www.ingraham.co.uk I've read it no end of times and used the info to treat my big guy which worked a treat with regards to COPD. Also last week had an arab that healed himself of a hoof infection with seadweed (extract so it went into the blood stream) within 3 hours, hoof went back to normal temp and he was sound. Also after reading the book treated the same horse after he caught his hoof in a rabbit hole and was swollen from fetlock to knee and very lame, again within 4-5 hours swelling completely gone and no lameness. Well worth a read! In fact I've gotten so into helping my horses treat themselves that I've arranged for the author of the book to run a 2 day workshop at my place in SW Wales.
