Trying to keep a long story short about a case of pretty bad customer service from a online retailer.

My friend pre-ordered some boots from them back in May and was told they'd be in by the end of August. Come the end of August no contact and no Boots (credit card had been debited back when she had ordered them) so she contacted them via their website and heard nothing back. she left it a week and contacted them again but still nothing.

A bit worried that she'd been ripped off, she contacted them via an email address she found on their website with a polite request for information on my boots but headed up "3rd Request"

She then recieved an email back stating they had no emails from her so were treating her enquiry as a 1st Request. Which she felt was very rude!! She emailed them back to say that she'd emailed them via their contact form on their website and that they probably ought to check that it was working.

In the meantime, she read their T&C's and they stated that credit cards wouldn't be debited until goods despatched so she sent another email asking why they had debited her credit card but not despatched my boots.

She had a reply back stating that they had permission from their bank to debit cards (without informing their customers I find this hard to believe) and that their contact form was working just fine and she must be lying!!!

She then got another friend to contact them via their website to see whether it was in fact working, and as suspected, no reply. The other friend then emailed them directly to ask whether it was working as they had tried a couple of times but had no reply. The company emailed back straight away to thank friend for bringing that to their attention, there was a problem and they had now got it fixed.

Other friend then went back to them and said No Thanks, just testing the form for forst friend (are you still following this!?), as they had been rude to her friend when made a complaint about lack of communication.

The response back from them was unbelieveable, they called other a "little b1tch"...

The bit that shocked us the most was the last bit. In no way were they provoked to that, and even than as a client facing company that is not acceptable in my eyes!

Eton mess and a large hot chocolate if you got this far!

I had a problem with an online retailer (not the usual either) and had a similar experience going on for weeks, until I made them aware of the various laws that were against them (distance selling regulations etc etc) and that I would be going public with everything. They immediately rolled over with lovely polite emails and it was resolved within two days.

Read up on your rights, take screen dumps from their T&C (so they can't change them during your complaint and claim they were always that way) and send them a very strongly worded email (with read receipt) that you will be shortly taking legal action if XYZ is not done quoting the legal basis for that.

Good luck.

Oooh, I think we need a bit of a hint here, or please pm me too.
I had rubbish customer service from EquestrianClearance when they refused to refund for my "extremely-slippery-bum but supposed to be sticky-bum" full seat Mark Todd breeches. However, after about 20 wears the fabric on the bum has worn away under my seat bones (I have pics to prove it - never had this with ANY make of jodhs or breeches before, even cheapo ones) and when I sent them back, they refunded without question, so they're back in my Good Books...

Ok K a hint...I can give a obious one....there was a set of books/TV shows of childrens stories, the name sounds a bit like these!

Glad you got there eventually with EC.

Hmm, can you PM me as well? I'm waiting on boots I ordered over a month ago from someone other than the usual suspect ... I've had replies to my emails, but still no boots!

I must say, I have had excellent service from the following :
Ride-Away, Ingatestone, Speedy Equestrian - and no, I don't work for any of them!
Ingatestone in particular will give you a better price on the phone that on the web.....try it! They are FAB.
I haven't used T*******ry (I assume that is who you mean?) but HAVE had trouble with DH (like just about everyone) - breeches that took so long to arrive that they were 2 sizes too big when they turned up (I had lost over 3 stone in the time it took!)

Good guess jnb!

I have to say I can never rate Inchs Saddlery highly enough and used Classic dressage for the first time the other day and hugely impressed. I have used the 'usual suspect' before but never had the problems other people have!

If its the firm I think you are referring to, I have always had good service from them. They sent me the wrong sized article once, their mistake. They sent me the correct size and the postage to return the original. No problems, no quibbles.

Hellspells - I know I am out of touch and don't leave the farm often enough, but who is Danny Dyer so at least I will know if I would 'do him too':D

Im now scared, Im setting up my own similar venture I hope my customers dont shout at me! :\

In all seriousness, I know people selling through FB and online who have no idea about distance selling regs or laws, its another product of the internet, anyone can do it syndrome.

I cant believe that they swore at you however, I always see things from both sides, one trying to make a living the other wanting good service, but the whole point of selling to the public is being polite and being able to resolve a situation.

I still have no clue who your on about however LOL

The swearing is what I couldn't beleive either. If that was my company I would be bending over backwards to be nice to my customers even if that meant swallowing pride and admitting getting it wrong or having a bad day (let's face it we all have those!). I guess it's just a sign of the times now and the reason why you should vote with your feet and never use them again.
