Has anyone watched the drivel that is Katie Price this evening? Forced to watch by my flatmate and was disgusted to see when riding her horse she wore no hat! Why would her trainer let her do that and does she not realise the example she is setting to all the impressionable young riders out there?
She'll regret when she falls badly and gets seriously hurt.

Agree its her head.. and her life.

There are no laws on it.. so if she wants to risk her life. let her get on with it..

Im sick of the 'lets all bash katie price' I think we should all give her a break.. I really really do.. SHe is.. after all.. only human! And once in a while could do with a break

I saw it and thought she wasn't setting a good example for the age range of people she is aiming her KP Equestrian range at. However I actually will put my hands up and admit that I quite like KP, she seems real - which I like.

i think he head is pretty empty at the moment

I think she is a bad example in this case. I usually agree that people should do what they want with their own lives, but KP puts herself in the public eye, she courts fame and notoriety. She writes books and has a range of products that are aimed at young girls and teenagers. I think it only right that in return for these things she shows a little consideration now and then for the effect her image may have on her admirers. As for 'giving her a break' - she chose her lifestyle and opens herself up to peoples opinions. getting everyone to talk about her, saying good things or bad, is what her career is based on. She has made more than enough money to enable her to step away from the limelight if she wished. But she doesn't. She actively seeks the publicity and seems to thrive on it. Fair enough. But there is a price to pay for it.

there was a post about this at the weekend. this is what i posted on there and i still stand by what i said then....

"it all comes back to the eternal hat debate doesn't it....personally i always wear my hat and always have done. but i don't judge people who don't- its their decision, yes it might be a stupid decision if they fall off and mash their heads but still their decision - most pros don't wear hats unless they have to (say in competition) but people aren't on here wingeing...most SJers for example whip their hats off after winning a class and gallop around celebrating, but people don't moan. there is also the issue that for DR you can wear a beagler which provides about as much protection as a jelly baby in most cases unless VERY well fitted.

the other issue is that should KP be wearing a hat just because she is a 'role model'? well it would concern me if my children (that is my imagined children ) saw her as a role model. i actually like KP a lot but i think a lot of other things she does are more of a concern for a 'role model' than not wearing a hat "

Her head, her mistake, her life!

Whilst I agree with this. I work in a hospital I see first hand head injuries. No matter how rich you are if you have a head injury you will be treated in an NHS hospital. So yes it is her head, her mistake and her life but it is also our drained NHS that has to foot the bill to patch her back together again if anything was to happen.

But then that is just my NHS rant coming out and nothing really to do with this arguement , so I apologise

But why does she not wear a hat? Has she picked this up from the people who are training her? I have seen plenty of good, top riders who school without wearing a hat.

She is as influenced as anyone else and, if she sees 'them' (ie the big guns) riding without hats then she's going to follow suit isn't she. Howvere, she is not on her own property I assume when she's being shown on the TV (have not yet seen the episode) so I think, if I was the owner of the place/giving her the lesson I would ensure she did wear a hat and would refuse to teach her if she didn't!

See - i'd sort her out! lol

I was always KP fan but i do think she seams a little manic at the moment it is a bit like watch Kerry Katona's programme.

I think she is trying too hard to prove she is over Pete and that everything in her life is better without him.

As for the hat situation i think she, now more than ever, needs to keep herself safe so she can look after her children. I do think it is her head and therefore her decision but she should want to wear a hat just incase.

I personally think she needs to calm down a bit, she doesn’t look happy to me, for the first time ever I don’t think she is saying it like it is.

KW33 - I agree with you on this. I'm all for individual freedom but I would also be very upset if someone I cared about failed to receive prompt treatment for an injury which they could not have avoided becauses hospital resources were being used to care for someone who was in there with an injury they could easily have prevented!

No apology necessary...I totally agree....your head your choice indeed.....but that does not consider the impact that AVOIDABLE accidents have on A+E, Theatre,ITU, physio and rehab services. Plus she has kids and has a duty of responsibility to them also. And if she wants to be associated with polo, dressage and all things equestrian then I think she 'should' be setting an example of best practice. I note she wasnt wearing baggy jods and knackered wellies.......

I would be devastated if my daughter saw KP as a role model in the 'tits-out' stakes but as a woman who has succeeded in several different business markets I think she has to be applauded actually.

I agree with KW33 totally. Everyone IMO should try and do anything possible to stay safe. Riding is a dangerous sport, therefore why on earth would she choose not to wear a hat. Why on earth should I then have to PAY for HER to have her head fixed in an NHS hospital?! She may be private of course, in which case I don't care - lol

I dont get the role model thing. Sorry, but if I had a kid its role model would NOT be some pink wearing, attention seeker made famous by her breasts!
