Got my mini gelding trimmed yesterday by the same farrier who always does him. This time however he was hopping lame a few hours later and would hardly weight bare on any feet, especially the front. This morning still the same, very sore but only on the front and mostly the left. Told farrier who is yet to get back to me. Vet said give danilon. There was some heat yesterday none today.

Anyway, here is the two fronts. In my opinion one is a lot shorter than the other and a lot shorter than it should be? What should i do with them..leave them to grow as they are and get a new farrier (again... sigh..) i mean just i worry about unbalanced hooves effecting his body?

It sounds like the farrier has taken too much off. I wouldn't be happy at all. If the farrier doesn't get back to you, or take this seriously, get a different one.

I'm running out of farriers :( lol

My new one (used him for my lami cob) is a barefoot specialist so he hopefully will be able to help. It's rough trying to keep track of two different people. Won't have that problem again!

I don't think they look THAT different, or THAT bad, although it's always hard to tell from photos. Very few horses have completely symmetrical feet!
I would wonder also about laminitis given he is a mini, and the time of year in your part of the world. Whichever it is, danilon and dietary management plus soft but supportive footing is the way to go.

Definitely not lami, he is on bare paddock and i keep him trim anyway for showing. He is much better today just still foot sore. I wish i had photos of the before because they are usually much longer and he is always happy on them. He is standing now with one foot out in front which he has never done he has always stood square.

Yes he is clipped, you show miniatures fully clipped.

OK, just checking you weren't clipping him for Cushings, because they are difficult to manage barefoot. It does sound like a trim issue, you'll know in a day or two if he isn't getting better.

Eeek, can't imagine the price a farrier would charge to shoe a 30" horse :p thanks x
