With sid having surgery they took his shoes off but now his feet are suffering! Im not sure about what to do to get shoes on him (a bit of a waste) or get them paired? which would be best he is on box rest for 8 weeks!

Since he is on box rest perhaps get them trimmed and leave him barefoot for his recovery period. Give his feet time to recover too. may be and Idea to invest in a pair of boots for his fronts so that he can cope with walks in hand and not mash his feet up too much

they are very brittle at the moment! not footsore on them though! Hes not great walking on stones or anything though! Ill give the farrier a ring and ask him to pair them! just hope he is ok with lifting his feet up! Ive not tried just left them!

its difficult, cos is seems a waste of money having them on. although when my horse had a op and 6 weeks box rest i took them off to save money. the bloody horse managed to get a punched sole! so a pair of shoes would hav been cheaper. but my mares gone to stud so we took her hinds off and she was hobbling. although when we went to visit her they had taken her back off and i was horrified and so angry. she can hardly walk even on soft ground. my farrier took months and months getting her feet right and the bloody studs mucked that up! they didnt say we had to take fronts off!

Im going to ring the farrier and ask him to pair them i think as he is walking fine! A bit footsore on stones but thats expected! Thanks for advice guys!
