A recent change from horsebox to Equitrek and a really frightening journey with horse continually almost going over meant I had to address the travelling problem.

On HHO'ers advice, took out partitions, crossed tied and blanked out side and front windows - and for the first time ever horse seems to be standing on its four feet - not trying to lean into the sides for balalnce. (I have a cctv camera which really helps analyse the problem/results.) So haven't been very far or very fast but her loading problems have magically dissapeared and she comes off the trailer as cool as a cucumber which is pretty amazing.

So, if you horse is a bad loader and comes off the lorry/trailer in a sweat, they may have a really really good reason, if they are having scary journeys.

But we are not 100% yet - so please if anyone has any other travelling tips please let me know as I never ever again want such a scary journey.

gosh, well done with getting such an improvement in her travelling. For other tips; some horses find it stressful wearing travelling boots, so bandages might help a little. A horse I knew once was usually fine travelling, but one trip she started bashing around - their was a little rattle of the dividers in the back which scared her. A bit of rubber added and all was well. Unfortunatly there are so many little things that can make it a more stressful experience, just a case of finding what works for each horse. Sounds like you are really getting it sorted though, well done you!

My mare hated weraing travelling boots. I just bandage her or use the premier equine sports boots - cant remember their name but they cover right to the coronet.
