Bad mum today :(

See, there's loads of us.

Last week, mine refused to be caught because the weather was nice etc etc. 40 mins of cantering- not wild chargin just evasive cantering around the field- I threw the head collar at her bum! Which clearly helped. Not.

^ had our resident NH parelli expert commented, she might have had the lead rope around her neck. :0

I had a rant at babyhorse not too long ago along the lines of "you are stupid and useless, and if you don't pick you're stupid feet up I will nail hedgehog skins to the poles"
Needless to say he didnt take much notice, although I felt bad for 2 days after in case I'd hurt his feelings!

Everyone looses it at some point !

I remember having poo picked the 4 acre paddock and Tess decided to reverse her huge hippo arse into the wheelbarrow, tip the entire thing over before taking flight away from a rather angry me.

At that point i was face down in the field, crying and shouting mubbled abuse at Tess how i would swap her for a cow down the road who would be less annoying. She clearly took lots of notice and was deeply hurt ;)

Horses huh... who would own them ??

I'm glad I'm not alone! I had SUCH a strop at Ned the day before the show. It took me 2hrs to plait him!! He was just being a bit of a fidget, nothing major. I was just about to get a plait perfect and he looked at something in the field...the plait was ruined. I yelled "OH ******* YOU NED!!!" and threw a brush at him.

He looked thoroughly shocked and ashamed and came over to me and nudged my arm. I couldn't stay mad, so gave him a cuddle!

I wonder if there is anyone who hasn't lugged a head collar at the rear end of a horse disappearing off up the field after a good while spent frustratingly trying to catch it!

Some of these are brilliant! It really is a wonder that horses are happy to live alongside us mad little things that want to brush them, prod them, faff with their feet and then ride them but wait we do feed them so I guess that's their motivation ;)

Haha tessybear I had that happen to me the other day my friends PRE mare thinks she is hilarious by trotting over while you are poo picking and tipping over the wheel barrow once it's filled she has done it to several people apparently and she always has a little glint in her eye

Haha, that sounds so familiar, it is the half squat, desperate launching of the bucket/carrot for me, whilst blue in the face, shaking with anger just thinking how much I would like to ring its bl00dy neck.

Ironically, Oshk's new owners have zero problems catching him ever, so he was either in far too big a field, or he absolutely hated me for all 7 and a half years I owned him.

I think that horses bring out the very best and the very worst of peoples' personalities, that is why there are so many nutty equine women about!

Been there done that. Our pony is a bit of a so and so when he goes out to the field but only with me. We will be going along quite nicely then all of a sudden he will see some grass over the other side of the track and just pull me over to it. I have been caught out numerous times, usually just as I think how well he is behaving. Once I just had had enough of having my arms pulled out of their sockets and walloped him with the lead rope. It didn't make a bit of difference and I ended up feeling cruel and useless. He will let the children lead him quite happily without any veering off to the grass and the YO's put him out most of the time and he does'nt put a foot wrong. My OH says he knows I am a soft touch.

Oh sorry - I had to laugh (in a nice, god I know how you feel way!).

Keep at it and no you are not a bad mum!

Oh been there. Join the club.

After spending 45 minutes trying to get on board...yes, 45 mins- count 'em- I stood in front of the bloody horse and bellowed in his face to just stand the fook still, and that I should have left him where I found him and we could have a lot of fun if he just stopped being an arse.

At that point I rang OH and demanded he cut short his shopping trip to hold said beast so I could get on otherwise I was having him shot. (horse, not OH).

Anyhoo....I calmed down.....15 mins later OH arrived, to find me already mounted :o

I have to say- that was the only time I lost it despite the many issues this horse had...we worked thgrough them all and he's a star now....don't give up.:)

Oh gosh i have done when my pony was taking me hours to catch so i threw the head coller and bucket screaming and crying, womens hormones ay!!

Tessybear - that's a regular occurrence for me poo picking kenny's field. It almost got to the point where if he didn't do I'd worry something was wrong!

Thank you hippona! This is the first time I have completely lost it with her felt sick after but I think it was a build up of all the heartache and frustration this horse has given me in the past 8months on top of feeling out of my depth with her being an accidental baby (thought she was 6 when I bought her turns out she is 3) we have a year from now to get her feet right and today was just another learning curve haha

I normally have all the patience in the world but I look after a lovely, but very cheeky horse who likes to mess me about ! He will let you get within one metre of him in the field then spin and leg it (ive found doing the opposite to what you are MEANT to do works!- chasing him , he will just give in and stop  ) The chasing is soundtracked by me running after him shouting exactly what I think of him :D

The horse also stood quietly while I clipped him, started to fidget a little and then stomped quite deliberately on my toe  I punched him in the shoulder :o I'm sure he didn't mind, he seems to annoy the other horses too and the regularly give him a good boot !
