Just had a call from my cousin. She'd been notified that her 2 year old gorgeous gelding was bleeding from his nose and mouth. She called a vet, the bleeding stopped, the vet wants him straight to the surgery as if the bleeding starts again he will bleed to death. I don't know any more about it apart from it's apparently very rare and it's something in his throat.

He's on his way to vets as i type, where they hope to medicate him. However if it does start again, surgery is unavoidable and they just wouldn't be able to afford it. :( I pray that it doesn't come to this.

He's the sweetest boy..Won some in-hand showing classes and he's been out in the field for the past few months chilling out with his friends :) ..he's lined up to be backed next year ready for my little cousin. I have everything crossed right now.

A mare I knew once had this same thing, It turned out to be a virus in her lungs and she was bleeding in her lungs. She had blood dripping from her nose for days She had to be trailerd out to the surgrey everyday for tests and also to have a camera inserted to look at her. It cost about 800e (about a grand) and she survived (being 15) and is now back being ridden normally. She had a couple of months rest to get over it but is now completely fine, It's a very rare virus according to the vet.
I hope this isn't the same thing, it sounds familiar.
Very sorry to hear this - It's awful when they are ill!
Crossing everything for you!

Thanks everyone.

Just sat waiting to hear news now..defo times like this i wish money was no object! The vet quoted 2000 if it came down to him needing the op.
Will keep you updated x
