Hiya guys, a quick question on behalf of a friend who's horse is receiving Cartrophen injections for a tendon sheath injury...
Has anyone's horse had a particularly nasty reaction? The mare had an injection into her chest and it blew up into a massive abcess type mess (they suspected because of dirt in the wound as is a typical risk with any injection) so she had the second injection into her hind quarter (her rump!) and it has had exactly the same reaction
Further investigation into these abcess type reactions has shown that neither of them are actually a 'true abcess' despite the gungy puss type flair up....
Has anyone any similar experiences or possible remedies?? Obviously the horse is under close observation with the vet who is speaking directly to Cartrophen about this- but neither professional body has ever known this type of reaction before
