Sort of a follow on from a thread I was reading earlier about riding affecting horses as much as bad back/teeth/tack! I take a strong dislike to people who whip there horses over the fences - it's pretty obvious to me what's going wrong here, and Im nowhere near a good rider - I don't even jump often and am afraid I could do a better job?!

Have to give the poor horse some credit for not chucking him off. I feel really sorry for him, doesn't know whether he's coming or going!
 
Ireland, im not surprised! They have a different attitude to riding and jumping than we do and well, it works for some, not for others. I personally would not ride like that but come on, we all have our off days...

In fairness, I've seen many examples of riding like this from the UK, and a few people over here are actually quite good riders/jumpers ;)

As for the Ireland comment, it's only this rider that caught my attention - the others looked balanced, were giving their horses clear aids and looked as though they had actually bothered to learn!!
The commentator made me laugh but I cant help wondering how badly the horse will come off from this relationship if he is like this every time he rides?
 
I couldn't watch the donkeys I was too fascinated by the amount of ragwort in the background.
 
I've seen plenty of it in the UK as well, I don't think it's limited to any country sadly!

I was very tempted to murder a small child who was using her pony as a battering ram at a jumping event last year, but sadly I'm too non-confrontational. I took heart from the fact that she ended up refusing every jump at least once and that my sister, who jumped afterwards on her youngster, did a beautiful round with only one refusal that was dealt with calmly and confidently, so hopefully she realised that was the real way to do things!

my old instructors daughter was terrible. we both started learning together and rode the same horse but Grey would quite often buck the daughter off or plant her feet until she dismounted, with me she was more likely to go off on a wander to find some jumps and never bucked me off or refused me anything. the daughter would sit on her flapping her arms and legs and yanking her mouth about, yet i was always chosen to ride her at gymkhanas..wonder why.

It was typical though, I was the good one who couldnt afford my own and she was the horrible one whose mummy bought her no end of horses. I cant imagine where id be now if our places were traded. i was so good when i was younger :(

Quite ironic really, as its the instructor's daughter! You'd think it would be the other way round :rolleyes: but then again you had to try, she was handed everything on a plate. Can't stand spoilt people. She probably still cant ride now haha! ;)

Wow, what a lovely, genuine horse! I would relieve her from that lady :P think a back check might be in order.. gosh, look how shes tugging at her mouth and then shouting her to go on..!

I've never filmed myself riding however, so godknows how I look D: not very bad surely :P
 
oh dear god! poor poor horse! no wonder it isnt jumping for him! god he seriously needs some lessons, he should not be let loose riding like that especially over a xc course! shockingly awful! :(

I know!! I really feel for that mare..and hope she finds a lovely new home-wish I could offer her one!

These vids definately make me feel better about my riding, surely I can't be that bad!:o

Aww she has such a pretty face. I'm a competent novice ;) if I had the money I'd definately go for a viewing, without a doubt.. she could become another HHO regular haha! However, J&C if you get her ;) :D you must post a video of how happy she is with you in the saddle!

Oh I would love her, if only eh? :)

Haha most probably! Although we beg to differ! Gosh, another one that seriously needs lessons and is a danger to themselves and the horse :(

Yes J&C ;) ...and KVH and myself would have to visit of course! :p I hope she ends up with a truly "competent novice" anyway! :)
