Can anyone offer help/ideas for a bad traveller? Paws contantly with front leg to the point of boots coming off. Also bucks and kicks with hind feet! I think I can cope with pawing but not happy that wagon can cope with kicking walls! Have travelled with a sane companion but no different. What about hobbles??

Hobbles a no no in my book!!!They need to be able to move hinds about as much as they need to balance!!!
Cant help you really as i have trouble with trailer so box ideal for me!!!Can you not pad walls abit, maybe if he cannot make a noise it may put him off???

What about if he has no partition and you just tie him up so he can stand across the box,he may feel claustrophobic!!

could be - but he loads fine, and has travelled well before? When I picked him up originally he travelled alone and never made a sound! I was hoping a few short trips with a friend would get him used to it and things would settle down. I feel he would thrash about more in a wagon with no partitions, and isnt it illegal to travel without any if more than one horse on board??

what about the use of a calmer?? anyone had any joy with them? i have heard someone talking recently about oxyshot?

Put a mirror in, mine did all of those things and has improved hugely with the mirror. I had to do something as he was trashing his feet to the point were the farrier couldnt nail his hind shoes on!
He still farts around a bit sometimes but nowhere near as bad (like 95%) perfect.

How is your horse travelled i.e herringbone, forward facing etc? My horse loves my lorry and you never hear a sound out of her (forward facing). However in my friends herringbone lorry she constantly paws and scrabbles around

I presume its not his companion upsetting him? Also, my mare will only travel on one side of the trailer. Even if she is travelled alone she has to be on the left hand side of the box otherwise she gets frantic - yet if you change sides she is as quiet as a lamb.

Mine hates the rigid type of travel boot and is much happier in the polly pad style ones whch are softer.
