Bad Weather tonight - Horses in or out!

They are horses! Lightwieght rug on to keep off the damp and throw them out, Kali is skinny so she will get a middlewieght rug on. We use the amigos and they never leak so ours will be better out and moving around to loose some wieght.

I brought my TB in this afternoon shivering and soaking wet, so he is staying in tonight - his field is waterlogged with no shelter, so no place to get out of the rain. Will probably be back out again tomorrow night as normal, as is only supposed to be 'light rain' tomorrow according to the forecast. But I am not holding my breath!

bracken is out and has been since 13th may!! although to be fair she is at stud!! and they have no stables left as the mares and foals are in them!! she has rugs up there!!

out un rugged no hay (haven't got any so putting them in isn't an option anyway) there is a tree so that makes me feel less guilty they will survive

ETS there masses of fat will keep them warm

Id say turn out if thats what you normally do. Why change their routine just because its going to rain? Id only think of stabling if lightning was forecast since thats actually dangerous! Otherwise, rug em up and chuck em out I say.

mine came in at five warmblood unrugged cold and shivering from head to toe , BECAUSE IT DOESNT FEEL ITpony with summer turnout dry but still shivering. both desperate to come in. field under water running out of hay and getting totally fed up children started summer hols today . is it summer

I've always been of the "horses are waterproof and she needs to lose weight anyway" school of thought but today she was shivering really badly. I've never seen her shiver before so she is tucked up in a nice warm barn.

Has been out all day, and will be out all night.... no rug, but a good selection of trees if he is sensible enough to stand under them!!!

The four of them are usually to be found mooching under trees as dry as a bone even when it is lashing it down!!!

Loads of grass so no hay needed (just as well coz its still standing uncut in the field :-(

Hope he doesnt shiver, but i wont be there to see it if he does

Well my stables have flooded out today so mine have got to stay out with rugs on. Their stables are about 2 foot deep in water and their fields have lakes in but nothing else i can do!!:( Praying rain will go soon as got 2 people coming to look at one of my horses at weekend!!!Least the sand school is not flooded!!!

Mine is out in a rug and has been all day too. I have just got back from checking him and he is warm and dry in his rug. He has access to a field stable though with haynets so can go in if he wants...although he seems to prefer being out in the rain at the moment!!! He has the best of both worlds really...spoilt pony!

All our 3 are out and naked. They live out most of the summer and are far happier out than in. Plus it means I don't have to get up at 5 to muck out and turnout before work tomorrow!

Mine comes in every night - but then she is 27 and it is her usual routine. If I'm not there on time to get her in she starts to get a bit stressed - she is hating the present weather.

Out without a rug. He was in all day and as I was so late getting back from London another livery put him out for me. She said he pulled her to the yard and as soon as she let him go he galloped off, bucking farting and squealing. So I think I can safely say my pony would rather be out, lol!!

If the rain carries on into the week I will start bringing in at night instead of during the day as it's better for the fields and it just gets too miserable out there.

Every single horse on our yard is out - I will not stable in July (beside the fact I have no bedding!!). He came in shivvering, so let him munch on a haynet for an hour while he dried off under a cooler rug (not much grass in our field), put a lightweight turnout on him and threw him back out. He is happier out - the only reason I put a rug on him is because out field has very little shelter. Admittedly, every horse in the field was tucked up and shivvering (even those who aren't rugged in the middle of winter!). I was the only one brave enough to venture through the floods, nobody else bothered to check up on them.

mine are out they are natives and will not melt! only one rugged is the one i'm showing at the weekend.

I've never seen mine wash away with the rain so they are out with their fly rugs still on as it's damn muggy in between the torrential downpours...... and they had baths today for their show on Sunday... oh i am a mean mummy..... LOL

Ours are in. After the torrential rain all day got them in, dried off and left them happy with nice dry beds and lots of haylage.
