I've spent this week getting ready to go hunting for the first time on sat with big lad; it's amazing how much effort is needed to actually get ready to go out and do something, by friday night I was shattered!

I didn't finish packing the car untill 9.30pm, but kept telling myself that it was all worth while as I'd have less to do in the morning.
Arrived at the yard sat morning to find big lad had had a total party in his box over night (not unusual, but bad timing) and had managed to cover himself with s**t- I haven't seen soo many stable stains in a long time! My endless leg whitening, tail washing etc on friday night had all been in vain.
This then put me behind schedual, and by the time i started plaiting, was thinking we might be late setting off anyway.
Then, as I finish my last plait, OH tells me we have a problem.... the trailer lights have stopped working!

To cut an even longer story short, we ended up not going, as by the time the loose connection had been found we should have already been there.
I felt very sorry for myself as I unplaited, and put my (almost) gleaming horse out in to the field.

Then this lunch time the YO rang to say big lad had cut his leg in the field.

The cut is about 2.5cm long and about 5mm wide on the front of his hind cannon, but looks clean and tidy so i've just bathed it with hibiscrub, put on some wound gel and put him to bed. I'm fairly certain that the leg will be swollen tomorrow, as he puffs up with the slightest thing (wimp), so more time off.
Here is a pic of him ready to load on sat;

He looks gorgeous when he's clean .. sorry your weekend plans were ruined. Horses always seem to know when to cause max trouble. We have to be careful not to tell our big lad when an outing is planned (eg dressage comp, fun ride etc) as he is guaranteed to go lame the day before otherwise!

Hope he is ok ....

Your not the only one .... everytime i get ready to go to a show there is always something that ends up going wrong, flat wheel ? lights not working ? plaits out ? .. always something .

Its a bugger when it all goes wrong like that but hopefully be on top for next time
