We went to collect the little abandoned pony with the police. Horse box arrived and this guy comes up "that's my pony"!

The police are really ticked off because they'd been to this guys house and he'd denied ownership of it! They'd left notices on the gate too saying the owner needs to contact them, etc. only when we try to take it away does he want to keep it although god knows why!
It's old,got really bad feet, seriously needs them seen to, it's skinny and there's a good chance it's got cushings

and he's never fed or gave it fresh water in ages

The police say they're doing everything they can to get it off him and give it to us but now it'll take longer because it's not just a straightforward abandonment, it's a cruelty case now.
But we think he'll at the very least get done for wasting police time as he denied it was his at the start.

So we need good luck for this little old guy that we get him soon and the stupid moron gets what he deserves.
We offered to him to take it anyway but he wants to keep it.

If you haven't already contacted them get in touch with the ILPH as I did recently over an issue with a horse. They were very professional and acted in the horse's best interest.
If this pony is not being cared for as it should. Ie shows signs of neglect or needing veterinary and farrier treatment the ILPH should pick up on that and will act with the welfare of the pony first and foremost.
I can understand your frustration and anger and if I was in your position I would feel exactly the same way.

Well the police are dealing with it and they are working on getting him charged with things too so we're leaving them to get on with it.
I just hope they get it done soon but they've been really good so far!
i'll let you know how it goes.

Well I hope all goes well and this guy gets his come uppance and the pony finds a better home because it's obvious its not being cared for properly where it is now.
I will keep my fingers crossed for a happy ending and I think you are doing a fantastic job in looking out for this pony and being prepared to give it a new start in life.
